Work, traveling and politics

Maybe it's about time to share some of the things that happened during the last year... I know I am a disgrace in posting, nevertheless, here I am again!

I am still living in Lisbon and working for Philips Medical Systems. Still looking forward to prove that I was a good option for the company. At least now I am much more into the health sector. I am starting to like it more and more.

Some points I consider important:

1) Politics

Joined officially a political party (Portuguese Centre Right – PSD) and I am an elected deputy in my home district general assembly. So now I am voting for the approval of the district executive, voting for and against local taxes and other stuff… On the other hand I am creating a local chapter of the youth party organization in my hometown. Finally I just posted my first article in the regional newspaper about regional economics… My first real work in economics… Funny…

PSD is the current biggest party in the country’s parliament, the party in the government has an absolute majority, nevertheless it has been an interesting experience.

2) Travel to Guinea-Bissau and Senegal

Finally my first visit to a sub-saharian country! Met my good old friend Moises who has welcomed me with a fantastic time. Brilliant! Thanks a lot for these amazing days full of adventures, such as being retained in the border to Senegal (S. Domingos is at the moment a war city due to the Casamansa independent group…), getting stuck in the middle of the ocean after the engine of the boat stopped working, being in the front row of a Miss Bissau contest, getting retained in a town called Ingore in the middle of the jungle because we were too late to catch the ferry to cross the river, and taking part of the most amazing parties that Africa has.

It is impossible to tell in few words all the enriching experiences I ended up having.

3) MC Germany get2gather
It is the third time we are going to meet. This time in Portugal! Chosen place: Alentejo’s coast in the southwest of Portugal. Amazing beaches and a good to be expected.

Thought of you recently. A couple good friends of mine were in your neighborhood. I have yet to make it there.

Nice to see I can catch up with you here too. If you decide to write more frequently.
